Virginia Supplemental Retirement Plan
The Virginia Supplemental Retirement Plan (VSRP) is an employer-paid defined contribution plan for qualified employees who serve in under-achieving schools as "Turnaround Specialists" or members of the Middle School Teacher Corps.
The Supplemental Plan is an additional benefit that public school boards may elect to offer eligible employees. It does not replace your traditional VRS retirement plan (the defined benefit plan).
VSRP Benefits
- Employers contribute to the VSRP account for their employees.
- You direct the investment of the contributions, choosing from a variety of low-cost investments.
- You pay taxes on contributions and earnings when you leave employment and withdraw the money from your account.
- Account balances are immediately vested.
Eligibility Certification
The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) certifies employees' eligibility to participate in VSRP. More information is available from VDOE by calling 1-804-371-7583.
