Wallace Reappointed to VRS Board

RICHMOND, VA, March 6, 2007 - The Joint Rules Committee reappointed Raymond B. Wallace, Jr. to the Virginia Retirement System Board of Trustees to serve a five-year term. The Joint Rules Committee first appointed Wallace to a five-year term on the board in June 2002.

In 1985, Wallace began teaching history at Mills E. Godwin High School in Henrico County and retired from this position in 2000. Prior to his teaching career, Wallace worked at Cauthorne Paper Company for 20 years, retiring as the company’s president. In addition to his responsibilities as a member of the VRS Board of Trustees, Wallace serves as clerk to the House Counties, Cities and Towns Committee.

During his tenure on the board, Wallace has served on a variety of the board’s subcommittees and currently serves as chair of the Audit and Compliance Subcommittee..

VRS provides benefits to more than 337,000 state and local government employees, teachers, judges and law enforcement officers and more than 129,000 retirees from the system. VRS is the 26th largest public pension system in the United States with assets approaching $54 billion.
