VRS Retirement Plan
Defined benefit plan for members of the Virginia Retirement System (VRS), including state employees, teachers, local law enforcement officers, full-time firefighters, emergency medical technicians and jail officers of regional jails and authorities; the State Police Officers’ Retirement System (SPORS); the Virginia Law Officers’ Retirement System (VaLORS); and the Judicial Retirement System (JRS).
Other VRS-Administered Retirement Plans
For those who qualify: Optional Retirement Plan in lieu of the VRS Retirement Plan; Deferred Compensation Plan, Cash Match Plan and the Virginia Supplemental Retirement Plan.
Basic Group Life Insurance Program
Natural and accidental death coverage and other life insurance benefits for members whose employers participate in the Group Life Insurance Program.
Optional Group Life Insurance Program
Additional life insurance members may elect if they are covered under the Basic Group Life Insurance Program.
VRS Disability Retirement
Disability retirement benefits for members who are not covered under the Virginia Sickness and Disability Program (VSDP).

Sick leave, other types of leave and disability coverage for state employees hired after January 1, 1999 and state employees who elected to join VSDP during one of two open enrollment periods.
