Estimate the Cost of Prior Service

Use the online Actuarial Estimator to determine the cost of purchasing prior service credit. This tool will show you the difference between a purchase at the 5-percent rate and at actuarial equivalent cost. If you purchase your prior service within three years of becoming eligible, such as starting work in a VRS-covered position or returning from a qualifying period of leave, your cost is based on the 5-percent rate.
