VRS Plan 1 and 2 Members: How to Access Your MBP

Log into myVRS. From your Account Home page, select the View Annual Statements link from the right column. Once on the MBP page, select your 2018 statement to view and/or print. Your MBP is based on information your employer reports to VRS as of June 30 each year. It includes your VRS member account balance, retirement benefit estimates, eligibility for other retirement benefits such as the health insurance credit, your VRS service history, prior service eligible for purchase and life insurance coverage amount (if eligible).

VRS Hybrid Retirement Plan Members: How to View Your Account

If you are a Hybrid Retirement Plan member, you can review your defined benefit and defined contribution account balances, account summary information in myVRS to see your membership details, retirement eligibility dates, prior service eligible for purchase and other VRS benefits.

myVRS Retirement Planning Resources

All members have access to the goal-based Retirement Planner, which provides an up-to-date view of your VRS income, allows you to enter other income sources and helps you see if you're on track to meet your income goal at retirement. In addition, the Benefit Estimator feature allows you to enter different retirement date scenarios and see estimates of your VRS benefits in retirement.

How Much Money Do You Need in Retirement?

Most financial planning experts recommend that when planning for retirement, you should use at least 80 percent of your current earnings as the benchmark for what you will need during retirement to maintain a reasonable standard of living.

Are You Taking Advantage of Supplemental Savings Opportunities?

If you are eligible to participate in the Commonwealth of Virginia 457 Deferred Compensation Plan, your MBP includes a customized retirement income analysis. This feature provides an estimate of your future retirement income and measures this estimate against 80 percent of your current compensation. The retirement income estimate combines your estimated future VRS benefit, Social Security and any funds available for distribution from your deferred compensation account as of June 30. Your analysis includes tips for closing the gap between your estimated retirement income and your 80-percent benchmark. Hybrid members can view their gap analysis by creating a retirement plan using the myVRS Retirement Planner.
