About Your Member Benefit Profile

your mbp

Be the MVP in Your Retirement. Review Your 2017 MBP.

Have you started planning your future yet? Take a first step by visiting your myVRS account to view your Member Benefit Profile (MBP) or your VRS account summary.

Your MBP is your annual benefits statement based on information your employer reports to VRS as of June 30 each year. View your MBP to see your VRS member account balance, your VRS service history, prior service eligible for purchase, life insurance coverage amount (if eligible), retirement benefit estimates and eligibility for other retirement benefits such as the health insurance credit.

VRS Plan 1 and 2 Members: How to Access your MBP

Log into myVRS. From your Account Home page, select the MBP link from the left column. From your MBP list, select your current statement as well as previous statements to view and print.

VRS Hybrid Retirement Plan Members: How to View Your Account

If you are a Hybrid Retirement Plan member, you will not receive a MBP. You can review your account information online in myVRS. A refreshed Retirement Estimator now integrates your defined benefit and defined contribution accounts. You can create estimates of your future benefits based on different retirement dates or payout options and explore which options will best meet your needs.

Hybrid plan members can also monitor voluntary contributions via myVRS. A summary of your voluntary contributions percentage appears on your myVRS homepage as a reminder to maximize your employer match while saving for retirement.

How much money do you need in retirement?

Most financial planning experts recommend that those planning their retirement use 80 percent of their current earnings as the benchmark for what they will need during retirement to maintain a reasonable standard of living.

Are you taking advantage of supplemental savings opportunities?

If you are eligible to participate in the Commonwealth of Virginia 457 Deferred Compensation Plan, your MBP includes a customized retirement income analysis. This feature provides an estimate of your future retirement income and measures this estimate against 80 percent of your current compensation. The retirement income estimate combines your estimated future VRS benefit, Social Security and any funds available for distribution from your deferred compensation account as of June 30. Your analysis includes tips for closing the gap between your estimated retirement income and your 80-percent benchmark.
