Virginia Retirement System Honored for Achievements in Financial Reporting

RICHMOND October 3, 2025 -

The Virginia Retirement System has earned its 43rd consecutive award for excellence in financial reporting for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, a distinction presented by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. In addition, VRS received its ninth consecutive award for the Popular Annual Financial Report.

The VRS ACFR received GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, which recognizes excellence in governmental accounting and financial reporting.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. VRS’ reports were judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a “spirit of full disclosure” in communicating financial information and motivating users to read the comprehensive report, and for the clarity and visual appeal of the popular report.

The PAFR received an Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting for its summary of financial, investment and statistical information derived from the comprehensive report.
