Your myVRS and defined contribution plan (DCP) accounts are essential tools for managing your retirement benefits. Keeping your contact details, passphrases and beneficiary designations up to date helps protect your personal information and ensures your benefits are administered according to your wishes.

What’s in myVRS?

myVRS is the secure online platform where you can view and manage your VRS defined benefit (pension) and other retiree benefits, such as life insurance. If you registered for myVRS while working, you’ll continue using the same account in retirement.

To protect your account, you’ll need to complete a one-time identity verification step during registration. After registering, you’ll be prompted to update your address, username and passphrase. Include your mobile phone number and personal email address to help ensure secure access and timely communication. For future logins, you’ll only need your username and passphrase.

Once logged in, you can:

  • View your monthly benefit payment and direct deposit details.
  • Update your contact information and security credentials.
  • Change your tax withholdings and review your federal and state tax information.
  • Print income verification letters.
  • Review your retirement summary, including your plan type and retirement date.
  • Manage your beneficiary designations for your pension and group life insurance.
  • View your health insurance credit and coverage information, if applicable.
  • Access financial wellness tools, including budgeting calculators, educational courses and personalized action plans.

If you haven’t accessed your myVRS account in the past 90 days, you’ll need to reset your password. For help, call VRS at 888-827-3847.

What About Your DCP Account?

If you participated in a VRS defined contribution plan, such as the Commonwealth of Virginia 457 Deferred Compensation Plan or the Virginia Cash Match Plan and still have funds in the plan, you’ll manage your savings through your DCP Account at Voya Financial.

Log in to:

  • View your DCP account balances and investment performance.
  • Update your contact information and beneficiary designations for these accounts. Remember, beneficiary designations for your defined benefit account do not automatically carry over to your DCP accounts. Be sure to review and update both.
  • Compare funds and use planning calculators.
  • Register for one-on-one counseling or make account changes using Voya’s 24/7 self-service phone line at 877-327-5261.

Security Starts With You

VRS and Voya Financial take strong measures to protect your information, but you play a key role in keeping your accounts secure. Here are a few tips:

  • Use a personal email address and choose strong, unique passphrases for each account. Set up multi-factor authentication ideally through your phone.
  • Never share your login credentials or use public Wi-Fi to access your accounts.
  • Always log out before closing your browser.
  • Store printed account information securely and be sure to shred printed documents before disposal.
  • Be alert for unsolicited retirement counseling services. If uncertain if a communication originated with VRS, please call 888-827-3847.
